6th Gen Camaro My first new car was a 1968 Camaro RS Almost 50 years later I decided it was time to return to my roots - before it was too late! Garnet Red in colour this one has all the good performance options:
Many thanks to Hal Bensen at Murray Chev Cadillac in Medicine Hat Alberta for assisting me in getting the exact car I was looking for. I bought it mid February and didn't take delivery until May 3rd, but it was worth the wait and what a spectacular drive home!! A lot has changed from my last Camaro 50 years ago, the technology in the power train, the packaging under the car of the exhaust and the suspension, the incredible performance and handling, and the safety. I knew these cars were quick but I had to find out myself. On July 2nd I took it to St. Thomas Raceway Park and totally stock on street tires it ran a best of 12.30 at 112 mph into a strong head wind - yes it's quick!
6th Gen Camaro - Final Edition In fall of 2023 GM announced they were ending the production of the Camaro with the last one to be built in November 2023. In January of 2024 I decided to look for a ZL1, the most powerful, best handling Camaro produced in it's 57 year run. A search of the internet turned up the exact model I wanted - at Capital Chevrolet in Calgary Alberta. Michael Blackburn was great to deal with and arranged for the shipment of the 2016 to Calgary and the new one to my home. It's an option loaded convertible - the perfect car to keep as the end of the line. At the end of March Hansen Forwarding picked up my SS for the long train ride west and delivered the ZL1 the 2nd week of April The ZL1 model comes with:
The choice for summer cruising has become complicated ... but fun!!
1968 Camaro RS My first new car It was Butternut Yellow with a black vinyl top and had the Rally Sport option which added the black rocker trim, black nose stripe and hideaway headlights. It was the first year for the Firestone Wide Oval tires, the motor was a 327 and was decently quick.
